S.D. Soybean Pod Setting at 76 Percent

For the week ending Sunday, there were 5.6 days suitable for fieldwork, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service. Topsoil moisture supplies rated 4% very short, 25% short, 67% adequate, and 4% surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies rated 2% very short, 21% short, 74% adequate, and 3% surplus.

Corn condition rated 1% very poor, 3% poor, 13% fair, 68% good, an15% excellent. Corn silking was 95%, ahead of 79% last year, and near 92% for the five-year average. Dough was 48%, well ahead of 20% last year, and ahead of 42% average. Dented was 4%, near 1% last year and 3% average.

Soybean condition rated 1% very poor, 3% poor, 11% fair, 70% good, and 15% excellent. Soybeans blooming was 92%, ahead of 81% last year, and near 91% average. Setting pods was 76%, well ahead of 43% last year, and ahead of 69% average.

Winter wheat harvested was 95%, well ahead of 63% last year, and ahead of 87% average.

Spring wheat condition rated 1% very poor, 4% poor, 23% fair, 68% good, and 4% excellent. Spring wheat harvested was 59%, well ahead of 13% last year, and near 56% average.

Oats harvested was 83%, well ahead of 37% last year, and ahead of 72% average.

Sorghum condition rated 0% very poor, 3% poor, 19% fair, 73% good, and 5% excellent. Sorghum headed was 60%, ahead of 53% last year, but behind 69% average. Coloring was 3%, near 4% last year, and behind 9% average.

Pasture and range conditions rated 3% very poor, 12% poor, 38% fair, 43% good, and 4% excellent.
