State Cattle on Feed Up 5 Percent from 2015

South Dakota feedlots, with capacities of 1,000 or more head, contained 215,000 cattle on feed on September 1, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service. This inventory was up 5 percent from last year.
Placements during August totaled 33,000 head, up 6 percent from 2015.
Fed cattle marketings for the month of August totaled 37,000 head, up 9 percent from last year.
Other disappearance during August totaled 1,000 head, down 1,000 head from last year.
