Have a Plan for Dicamba Application
South Dakota Ag Connection - 05/29/2023

A weed scientist with South Dakota State University Extension says the delayed planting season and updated dicamba application deadline means farmers should have a plan in place if they’re using the herbicide.

Eric Jones tells Brownfield if farmers planted soybeans late, it’s best to use dicamba early post-emergence.

“And then, if you have to come back and do a sequential application to control the later germinating weeds, that’s what I would recommend. But I wouldn’t wait until the last day for the sake of spraying it.”

Jones says he is hopeful farmers will take the time to apply the herbicide in ideal conditions and follow the label.
