Cultural Heritage Center Sets Holiday, Summer Hours
South Dakota Ag Connection - 05/26/2017

The museum in the South Dakota Cultural Heritage Center in Pierre is open May 29 for the Memorial Day holiday from 1-4:30 p.m. CDT.

All other offices of the South Dakota State Historical Society in the Cultural Heritage Center, including the archives research room, are closed on Monday.

The museum is open this Saturday from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m., and Sunday from 1-4:30 p.m.

Starting May 30, and running through Labor Day in September, the museum will be open extended hours -- Monday-Saturday from 9 a.m.-6:30 p.m. and Sundays and holidays from 1-4:30 p.m.

"We hope people take advantage of the extra hours and visit the museum in the Cultural Heritage Center this summer," said Jay D. Vogt, director of the South Dakota State Historical Society. "The museum is a family-friendly environment and an enjoyable experience for people of all ages."

Museum admission is free for children 17 and younger; there is a small fee for adults ages 18 and older.

Public hours for the archives research room remain unchanged -- 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday and the first Saturday of each month.
