Pipestone CEO to Speak at Ag United Annual Lucheon

Ag United for South Dakota is hosting its annual luncheon on Dec. 14 at 11:45 a.m. at the Sioux Falls Convention Center. Dr. Luke Minion, CEO of Pipestone is the guest speaker. The eighth annual Agvocate of the Year, an award for an outstanding supporter of Ag United for South Dakota, will also be recognized.

Minion is also chairman of the board for Wholestone Farms and chairman of the board for Pipestone. He will share insights on how the pork industry and pork producers have managed through the past 18 months, as well as talk about the recently announced Wholestone Farms pork processing facility planned for Sioux Falls.

For 17 years, Ag United has worked to connect our state's farm and ranch families with the consumers and decision makers that influence the future of our industry. In 2021, it reached thousands of South Dakotans with dairy and pork open houses, classroom programs, restaurant crawl events, and participation at popular events. Its social media platforms share South Dakota farm and ranch families' stories throughout the year, and it continues to support families with help for zoning and other county and local hearings for expansion or new construction projects.

It takes an army of volunteers to make the work possible, most importantly the family farmers and ranchers who are willing to host events and take time to tell their stories. Ag United will recognize these volunteers and all of South Dakota's farm and ranch families. It will also announce the eighth annual Agvocate of the Year award to recognize South Dakota farmers and ranchers for their work in sharing the story of modern farming with the public.

South Dakota Farm Families/Ag United for South Dakota is a coalition of farm organizations with a goal of keeping family farms growing. Coalition members include South Dakota Cattleman's Association, South Dakota Corn Growers Association, South Dakota Dairy Producers, South Dakota Farm Bureau, South Dakota Pork Producers Council, South Dakota Poultry Industries Association and South Dakota Soybean Association.
