Midwest Dairy CEO to Speak at Ag United Annual Luncheon

Ag United for South Dakota is hosting their annual luncheon on Dec. 13 at 11:45 a.m. at the Sioux Falls Convention Center. Lucas Lentsch, CEO of Midwest Dairy Association, is the guest speaker. Ag United will also be recognizing the fourth annual Agvocate of the Year, an award for an outstanding supporter of Ag United for South Dakota.

Lentsch is being welcomed back to South Dakota to serve as keynote speaker for the luncheon. He works on behalf of 8,000 dairy farm families in 10 Midwestern states to increase dairy sales, foster dairy innovation and inspire consumer confidence in dairy food and farmers. His upbringing on a dairy farm and his experiences as South Dakota secretary of agriculture give him strong background and expertise for his current role.

For 13 years, Ag United has worked to connect our state's farm and ranch families with the consumers and decision makers that influence the future of our industry. In 2017, it reached thousands of South Dakotans with dairy and pork open houses, classroom programs, restaurant crawl events, and participation at popular events like Family Fest and more. Its social media platforms share South Dakota farm and ranch families' stories throughout the year, and Ag United continues to support families with help for zoning and other county and local hearings for expansion or new construction projects.

It takes an army of volunteers to make our work possible, most importantly the family farmers and ranchers who are willing to host events and take time to tell their stories. The organization will recognize these volunteers and all of South Dakota's farm and ranch families. It will also announce the fourth annual Agvocate of the Year award to recognize South Dakota farmers and ranchers for their work in sharing the story of modern farming with the public.
