South Dakota Soybean Harvest Tops 90 Percent

For the week ending Sunday, there were 4.6 days suitable for fieldwork, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service. Topsoil moisture supplies rated 0 percent very short, 0 short, 75 adequate, and 25 surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies rated 0 percent very short, 1 short, 71 adequate, and 28 surplus.

Corn condition rated 3 percent very poor, 8 poor, 27 fair, 44 good, and 18 excellent. Corn harvested was 39 percent, well behind 69 last year and 82 for the five-year average.

Soybeans harvested was 91 percent, near 95 last year, and behind 98 average.

Winter wheat condition rated 2 percent very poor, 4 poor, 23 fair, 54 good, and 17 excellent. Winter wheat emerged was 95 percent, near 91 last year and 94 average.

Sorghum harvested was 64 percent, behind 73 last year, and well behind 86 average. Sunflowers harvested was 47 percent, behind 54 last year, and well behind 75 average.

Pasture and range conditions rated 2 percent very poor, 4 poor, 21 fair, 50 good, and 23 excellent.
