S.D. Layers Down 1 Million, Egg Production Up 20 Million

All layers in South Dakota during September 2016 totaled 2.52 million, down from 1.55 million the previous year, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service.
South Dakota egg production during September totaled 56.9 million eggs, up from 36.0 million in 2015.
September egg production per 100 layers was 2,260 eggs, compared to 2,329 eggs in 2015.
