NAFB President-Elect Dismissed
USAgNet - 09/30/2016

The National Association of Farm Broadcasting will host a special election to replace Anthony Ricketts, a.k.a. Tony St. James, as 2017 President during the upcoming Convention in Kansas City, Mo., November 9-11.

This action is the direct result of the NAFB Board of Directors' recent dismissal of St. James from his duties and responsibilities as Director and Executive Committee member. Citing unsolvable conflicts, the board unanimously approved and the president supported this action on September 16.

A number of issues drove the decision including a loss of trust and confidence among board and staff members, and violations of the NAFB Commitment to Serve agreement. St. James' removal was effective September 27.

"This was a very difficult decision-one that was heavily considered," says NAFB President Brian Winnekins, WRDN, Durand, Wis. "The Board's focus is to always act in the best interest of the association and its membership."

NAFB is currently accepting candidates for the positions of 2017 President, as well as the 2017 president-elect and 2017 vice president. A special election for president will be held in conjunction with the normally-scheduled voting process during the Broadcast Council Meeting.
